Monty
and Karen Turner, Run of the River Bed & Breakfast, Leavenworth, WA
Transplants from Las Vegas, Monty and Karen built and opened their
log style bed & breakfast inn in 1986. "We looked for property in
the Cascade Mountains near a river because we wanted to offer guests
things to see and do in all four seasons," says Monty. Their spot
on the Icicle River near the Bavarian style town of Leavenworth offers
all kinds of outdoor activities. In the winter guests enjoy cross-country
skiing and snowshoeing and in the summer and fall guests take on hiking,
biking, fishing, and river rafting. "When we can we love to go biking
and hiking with our guests, too," says Monty.
Monty's collection of mountain bicycles is available for guests to
use on nearby roads and trails. "We also have a nifty Cannondale 18-speed
tandem bicycle that guests can try," says Monty. During winter months
guests are welcome to use the inn's Red Feather snowshoes, taking
off from the front door of the inn! "Folks who don't take to skiing
usually find snowshoeing easy to learn," says Monty. Jasper, the friendly
airedale often enjoys a romp with guests too.
